Dunckel is working at Kansas State University toward a PhD in genetics. She is a winner of Monsanto’s Beachell-Borlaug International Scholar Program Awardee and is conducting research to examine the genetic contribution of synthetic hexaploid wheat to increasing yield performance. She also is involved in a plant breeding and genetics graduate student club. Dunckel received MS in Agricultural Science from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich and worked at Cornell University for her Masters’ thesis research pyramiding Ug99-effective stem rust resistance genes applying marker-assisted selection.
